Our Vision
Inspired by the deep wisdom behind its name, Emengini, expresses the generous open invitation of the excluded person who asks: ‘what have I done to be excluded in the dialogue?’ The Institute contributes to the cultural work of educating the minds of people from all countries of the world to enable them to recognize the beauty of creative human imagination in Africa and beyond.
In the global formation of knowledge systems, it cannot be denied that many cultures have been ignored. By fostering the dialogue of different cultures, Emengini Institute provides a space for the realization of the richness of human imagination. It brings the criteriology of African and other under-explored cultures to bear on global problems, while encouraging openness to new realities. Through the courses, conferences, seminars, fellowship and other programs it offers, Emengini Institute facilitates understanding across cultural divides to mitigate political, cultural and social dangers of the present century.
