Adaobi Muo

PhD, University of Lagos

Adaobi Muo is a LUCAS/LAHRI Research Fellow (2023). She holds a Ph. D. in English (Literature) from the University of Lagos, (UNILAG), Akoka, Lagos. Muo is a Lecturer 1 and the Acting Head of the Directorate of General Studies, National Institute of Nigerian Languages (NINLAN), Aba, Abia State. From 2012 to 2020, Muo facilitated courses in English, Literature (in English), and Communication, as an adjunct lecturer, at UNILAG and Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos. In addition, she worked as a facilitator, marker, and course writer, for Literature (in English) and English courses, at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), between 2017 and 2021. Muo also participated in the field research projects “Our Mythical Childhood: The Reception of Classical Antiquity in Children’s and Young Adult’s Culture in Response to Regional and Global Challenges,” (2018-2022) and “Rethinking the “Informal” and Mainstreaming African Popular Arts and Entertainment (2021 to 2022), respectively funded by EU and the German Research Foundation. She covered the Igbo culture of the South East Nigeria in both. Adaobi Muo specializes in African and African Diaspora discourses, gender, and African Ecology and has published in her research area in reputable journals. She is a member of the Igbo Studies Association (ISA), Literary Scholars Association of Nigeria (LSA), Lagos Studies Association (LSA), and African and African Diasporic Studies (AADS) Research Group. Adaobi Muo is married and has four grown children.
